I am the Director of Remember When Sheffield Ltd, and Manager of the Remember When cafe.
I am Sheffield born and bred, I am proud of, and care deeply about Sheffield. I worked for 18 years in higher education and left to open the cafe.
In 2015 I gained a distinction in my postgraduate module 'Contemporary issues in brain and behaviour: the biology, psychology and sociology of dementia and psychosis'.
I am the baker for the cafe, as well as helping out when I can.
I used to be a teacher and now enjoy spending time with my mum Eileen, and 4 super grandchildren.
I have many years of baking experience under my belt and my favourite recipe is chocolate buns.
I'm Ruth's Nan and have been the inspiration for the Remember When cafe.
I have 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grand-children. I worked as a civil servant and I spent a lot of time barn-dancing, rambling and doing yoga.
I'm 90 years old and I'm continuing to live a full and happy life. I enjoy going out with my daughters, and I particularly like going out for meals where the place isn't too busy and we can get nice food - especially sherry trifle. I play a mean game of scrabble and do lots of crossword puzzles.
We're Eddie and Billy, Ruth's sons.
You can find us in the cafe during the school holidays.
Eddie likes to be behind the scenes making coffee,
while Billy enjoys meeting and serving people.
I'm Rolo, and am the official meeter and greeter for the cafe. I love the fuss that I get from customers and I'm very well behaved. My favourite thing is cheese.
If you'd like to volunteer with us, we'd love to hear from you!
